While a lot of humans are crying hoarse over burning of
fossil fuels and the resulting increase of carbon emissions, here is a different view that concludes carbon emissions could be good for the planet.
It seems a scientific fact that trees grow faster and
healthier as the level of carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere. Around 1000 ppm seems great for plants and it is still around 400ppm. Presently
it is still too low for their best possible health. Over the past century while human population
has been increasing by leaps and bounds tree population has gone down
drastically due to human activity. There is a desperate need to increase tree
population. Much wild life depends on it. The carbon in our fossil fuels belong to trees that were buried under the ground a long time ago. By burning fossil fuels we help return that carbon to trees but some cruel and thoughtless humans try trapping the carbon in lime or other such inorganic matter so that it becomes insoluble carbonates (stones) and is lost to life almost forever.
"Therefore, while increased emissions, even if conclusively proven as not good for humans (which is not the case) are great for trees and animals that dwell in forests that have as much right to the planet as humans. "
Could this be a time when the greed and selfishness of many humans has grown 666 times of what is good for them and their last days hearken to bind it for a 1000 years, when only a few fortunate human souls shall be left behind, while the forests make their come back?
Carbon emissions are good. Nature is lending a helping hand as it has always done for the vulnerable. In the extreme case climate instabilities, dust pollution as in Europe presently, and natural disasters would destroy much of the human populations and trees will make a come back. It shall be their sweet revenge. Long live the planet and its beauty that man has destroyed! Humans are not the only and most important life form on the planet even though most think so. The planet has seen many other life forms, atmospheric temperatures, atmospheric composition and it shall continue to see more of that in future and each condition will be optimum for some life forms while bad for others. Humans may not be able to cope but Gaia certainly shall. Studies suggest that carbon dioxide levels were ten to twenty times the present levels during the Cambrian period when an explosion of life forms took place on earth.
The picture with this post is from a Himalayan region that
still has a lot of lovely trees but alas that is not the case with much of the
planet.
Is there something humans can do to avoid this scenario considered dreadful by many from the human selfish point of view? For sure there is. Humans can be
just as constructive as destructive. They can easily help plant more trees on
the planet that will act as a carbon sink and then it is possible that both
species of life may live in peace and harmony as they have for centuries. There
is a need for every human to make some contribution in this direction.
UPDATE October 2015
In several posts of this blog as well as others
this author, although a minority among scientists, has consistently maintained that while climate changes are taking
place and they do seem to be from human causes, this cause cannot be due to
carbon dioxide. Its level of 400 ppm or 0.04% is simply too small to cause a
significant change in temperature as a greenhouse gas.We have water vapor a much stronger greenhouse gas that always been present in much larger quantities in the atmosphere and there is no feedback loop attached to it as some scientists have been trying to assign to it. it remains in the atmosphere at many times the levels of carbon dioxide. A recent study has
validated the author’s claim about the minimal influence of carbon dioxide.
Dr David Evans ONE of the world's leading climate change
experts claims to have discovered mathematical anomalies which effectively
'disprove' global warming.
He said he "mapped out" the architecture of the
climate models used and found, that while the physics was correct, it had been
"applied wrongly".
He claims to have found two reasons for it being wrongly
applied, the first being a vastly over estimated impact on our temperature from
CO2.
For more details see:
The author still maintains that the human cause that is
significantly influencing climate and causing climate extremes is the large
scale deforestation that has taken place on the planet over the last century.
