This could aggravate fault lines inside the earth encouraging frequent earthquakes. Some such thing seems to be happening in Oklahoma, USA and other places. Within the central and eastern United States, the number of earthquakes have increased dramatically over the past few years. Prior to 2008 there were an average of 21 earthquakes of magnitude three and larger in the Central and Eastern United States. This rate jumped to an average of 99, M3+ earthquakes per year in 2009–2013, and the rate continues to rise. If the practice is not stopped immediately this process may bring the entire state down or the industry will lose heavily in compensations to businesses and homeowners after a class action law suit for the same.
